Genealogy and Derbyshire, England...
This page is devoted to the county of Derbyshire, England, and covers the origin of its name, an outline of its history and geography, links to other web sites concerned with the county, genealogical resources relating to the county and the same types of information in more detail for those cities, towns and villages in the county in which I have a family history interest. In doing this, it is not my intention to duplicate unnecessarily, nor to compete with, web pages which already do some of those things, but to complement such pages and provide links to them, with appropriate description of what they have to offer. ...

Winster Ancestry...
Winster is one of the oldest villages in the Peak of Derbyshire in England.  In the 18th century it was a thriving village with an important lead mining industry. It is also where two branches of my family tree met and converged into one.  I became fascinated with this area of Derbyshire & have now done quite extensive research on the genealogy of the families of Winster....

Jayne's NE Derbyshire...
The district surrounds Chesterfield on three sides. The east and north are part of a major coalfield, though less important than formerly. Iron, steel, and heavy engineering industries are significant at Clay Cross, Dronfield, Eckington, Renishaw, and other towns on the eastern side of the district. Dronfield and Eckington are also residential areas for commuters to neighbouring Sheffield. In the west and south the district is more rural in character. The land rises in the west toward the Pennines, and part of the district is within the Peak District National Park....
